Oliver McWaters of Buffington died at his country home last night. Mr. McWaters has resided in Polk county 15 years and was respected by all who knew him. Consumption fastened upon him several years ago and he has made a brave struggle against fate. He was attended during his last illness by his mother and his brothers John and Will McWaters. The remains will be taken to Zumbrota for interment.

Word was telegraphed to the city Sunday of the sudden death of Charles Michael at Alma, Wis., and last evening Mr. Emil Vonderbeck and daughter Gladys, Robert Michael, Ruby Michael, Mrs. Fred Michael mother of the deceased and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Michael, the former a son of the deceased left for Alma to attend the funeral which it was expected would be held today.

Chas. Ristow Dead- Charles Ristow, son of John Ristow, of Fanny township, died at Fergus Falls, Sunday evening. The remains were taken to Fountain City, Wis., accompanied by his sister Wilma, for burial in the old family lot. The young man was very well known in this county, having spent nearly his whole life on his father's farm in Fanny.

Death Came at Old Home- The item appearing last Thursday chronicaling the death of Charles Ristow, was in error so far as the place of death. Mr. Ristow was with his parents at Fountain City, Wis., when he died. His affliction was consumption.

MANY RELATIVES WERE PRESENT FROM OUTSIDE CITY- BURIED AT OAKDALE
Yesterday afternoon at Chesterman's Chapel funeral services were held over the remains of Mrs. Louis Larson, who died at Seattle and who was brought here accompanied by her husband and son, for interment.
Rev. C. C. Warner, of the Congregational church, officiatedat the ceremonies and laid a high tribute to the life and character of the departed. Special music was rendered by a trio consisting of Mrs. Will Nelson, Mrs. Bennie Vonderbeck and Mrs. Allard.
The services were attended by many relatives of the deceased, and scores of intimate friends. The remains were laid to rest in Oakdale cemetery. The pall bearers were Messrs. P. Sayder, Emil Nelson, Ernest Hanson, Bennie Vonderbeck, Timothy Biever and C. Riedesel.
Among those present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McWaters of Auburn, N.D.; Mrs. Albert Walter, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wagner and family and Mr. and Mrs. W. Wagner of Nesbit township, and Mr. and Mrs. August Michaels, of Argyle.

JOHN RISTOW PASSES AWAY
FORMER POLK COUNTY FARMER SUCCUMBS TO AN ATTACK OF PARALYSIS
News has been received here of the death at Fountain City, Wis. on Sunday last of John Ristow, formerly well known in Polk county. At one time he resided on a farm near Fanny, but several years ago he removed to Wisconsin. It is stated that the end came after a stroke of paralysis.
The deceased leaves a wife and 12 children. Among other relatives is a sister, Mrs. Fred Michaels of Nesbit township, this county, who upon learning of her brother's death started for his late home to attend the funeral. She was accompanied on the trip by her daughter.

Receives Word of Death- Mrs. Emma McWaters received word this morning of the death of her sister, Mrs. Minnie Vonderbeck, at Berkeley, Cal. Death was due to a paralytic stroke. Mrs. Vonderbeck lived in Crookston for a number of years, but moved to California about five years ago. The deceased is survived by her daughter, Mrs. N. V. Lane, and mother, Mrs. Carolina Michael, of Crookston, and three brothers, August Michael of Argyle and Robert and Rudolph Michael of Crookston, and five sisters, Mrs. Emma McWaters of Crookston, Mrs. Rose Walter of St. Paul, Mrs. Louise Michael of Alma, Wis., Mrs. Bertha and Mrs. Frida Wagner of Nesbit township, this county. Mrs. Vonderbeck was born in Alma, Wis., on April 4, 1870.

The news of the death of Mrs. Emil Vonderbeck at Berkeley, California on Friday was a sudden shock to relatives and friends. Mrs. Vonderbeck went to California five years ago in search of better health and kept slowly improving until about a year ago when she began to fail again. Mr. and Mrs. Vonderbeck lived on their farm two and a half miles southwest of the village for sixteen yearswhere they gave up farming on account of Mrs. Vonderbeck's health. Mr. Vonderbeck died ten years ago at Crookston. Mrs. Vonderbeck is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Vonderbeck Lane who resides in California.

Mrs. August Mecheal, 53, formerly a resident of Crookston died at Argyle Thursday evening after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held from Chesterman's Funeral Parlors Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Burial will be made in the Oakdale cemetery.
Surviving relatives include Mrs. Mecheal's sister, Mrs. George Ebbinhauses and her brothers Ben and Alfred Vonderbeck.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rugust Mecheal, 53, who at one time made her home in Crookston were held from Chesterman's Funeral porlors this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial was made in the Oakdale cemetery.
During recent years Mrs. Mecheal has made her home in Argyle. Before her death on Thursday evening at Argyle she had been ill for several months. Surviving relatives include Mrs. Mecheal's sister, Mrs. George Ebbinghauser and two brothers Ben and Alfred Vonderbeck of this city.

…Relatives and friends of Mrs. August Mirhael were greatly shohked when they received word that she had passed away very suddenly Thursday noon at her home in Argyle. Mrs. Michael was born at Red Wing in 1874 coming to Euclid with her parents whes she was seven years of age and residing here until her marriage to August Michael. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Michael lived at Crookston until they moved to Argyle twenty-three years ago where Mr. Michael was manager of the Olson and Holen farm. Mrs. Michael leaves to mourn, her husband, two brothers, Alfred Vonderbeik of Euclid, Ben Vonderbeck of Crookston, one sister, Mrs. George Ebbinghausen of Crookston. Funeral services for Mrs. Michael were held at Argyle Friday afternoon from the Congregational church at two o'clock and from Chesterman's chapel in Crookston on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. Mrs. Michael was laid to rest in Oakdale cemetery, beside her son, Johnny Michael, who died at the age of six years.

MRS. MICHAELS, HERE FOR 51 YEARS, DIES IN DAUGHTER'S HOME
Mrs. Caroline Michaels, 92-year-old resident of Crookston, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma McWaters, 107 Fourth Avenue North, where she had lived for 11 years.
Mrs. Michaels was born in Germany, February 10, 1840, and was united in marriage with Frederick Michaels shortly before coming to the United States.
The settled on a farm near Alma, Wis., and in 1881 moved to Polk county, in Nesbit township.
Surviving are three sons and five daughters, 28 grand children and 30 great grand children. The children are Mrs. McWaters and August, of Crookston; Randolph and Robert on the farm in Nesbit; Mrs. Rose Walters of St. Paul; Mrs. Louisa Michaels of Alma; Mrs. C. Wagner in Nesbit; and Mrs. Bertha Wagner in Lowell township.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday.

MRS. VIOLA JOHNSON DIES FOLLOWING FIVE WEEKS' ILLNESS HERE
Mrs. Viola Rose Johnson, 34, died at six a. m., today at a local hospital following a five weeks' illness with pneumonia and complications.
Born at Fisher, December 2, 1900, Mrs. Johnson spent her childhood there, and in Grafton, N. D., and Waldon, Sask. She moved to Crookston with her parents in 1913 and was married in March, 1920, to Emil Johnson here. They lived in Winnipeg for five years, then moved to Detroit, Mich., where Mrs. Johnson made her home until two years ago when she returned here to live with her mother, Mrs. Emma McWaters.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, Robert E., 10: her mother, three sisters, Mrs. C. H. Lemon of Belton, Mo., Mildred of Chicago, and Mrs. Christ Fischer, of Crookston; and four brothers, William, Robert, Edmund and Vernon, all of Crookston.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but rites will probably be held Monday. pending word from Mrs. Johnson's brother-in-law, the Rev. C. H. Lemon, who is expected to officiate.

CROOKSTON WOMEN ATTEND FUNERAL
Mrs. Emma McWaters, Mrs. Bertha Wagner and Mrs. Freda Wagner returned last night by motor from St. Paul, where they attended the funeral of their sister, Mrs. Rose Walter, Wednesday in Hope Presbyterian church. They were accompanied by Mrs. Freda Wagner's sons, Howard and Harvey, and her daughter, Mrs. Walter Weiland.
Mrs. Walter, who had been ill for six months, lived in Crookston with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Michaels, until her marriage. She was born in 1879. She is survived by a son, Freeman, in Minneapolis: a daughter, Mrs. Fern Stacey, of St. Paul, and two grandadughters. Other survivors in addition to her three sisters from here are three brothers August, Rudy and Robert, all of Crookston, and a sister, Louisa Michaels, of Alma, Wis.
Among other relatives who attended the funeral were her two nephews Ferdinand and Fred Michaels, of Alma, Wis., and a cousin, Mrs. Elsie Horstman, of Fountain City, Wis.

Mildrd McWaters Dies in Nebraska- Word was received here today of the death Wednesday in Lexington, Nebraska, of Mildred McWaters, daughter of Emma McWaters, of this city. She succumbed at the home of her sister, Mrs. Carol Lemon. The body will be brought here late Friday afternoon for burial. Details of the death were not known here.

MCWATERS RITE BEING PLANNED
SERVICES MAY BE TOMORROW; ARRIVAL OF FAMILY IS AWAITED
Funeral arrangements were to be completed late today for Miss Mildred Mcwaters, 29, who died in Lexington, Nebraska, after an illness with tuberculosis.
Mrs. Emma McWaters, who was called to Lexington when her daughter's illness became critical, will arrive late this afternoon, with the body, and four brothers, who are attending National Guard camp at Camp Ripley, near Little Falls, are also expected late today. It is expected that the funeral will be held Saturday, but arrangements will await the arrival of the family.
Miss McWaters was born in Auburn, N. D., April 30, 1909 and attended schools in Crookston after her family moved to this city. She has been away from Crookston for some years.
In addition to her mother she is survived by four brothers, William, Edward, Robert and Vernon, all of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. C. H. Lemon of Lexington, at whose home she died, and Mrs. Christian Fischer, of Crookston. Another sister died three years ago.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Church of Christ for Mildred McWaters, who died Wednesday in Lexington, Nebraska, at the home of her sister. The Rev. F. J. Hibbard afficiated at the rites and interment was made in Oakdale cemetery. Pallbearers were Lawrence and Herbert Wagner, Howard and Harvey Wagner, Walter Weiland and Herman Radi. Robert and Ed McWaters came last night from Camp Ripley where they are stationed with Company M, and a brother-in-law of Mrs. Emma McWaters, Charles McWaters of Milbank, S. D., was also here for the services. Mrs. McWaters was with her daughter in Lexington at her death, and brought the body here for burial.

AUGUST MICHAELS DIES AT AGE OF 77 YEARS
Death came yesterday to August J. Michaels, 77, who had resided at 903 N. Broadway for the past 17 years. He had been engaged in the management of farming land but had retired a number of years ago.
He was a native of Alma, Wis., being born there July 18, 1869.
Survivors include two brothers, Rudolph and Robert, both of Fertile, and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Wagner, and Mrs. Freda Wagner of Fisher, and Mrs. Emma McWaters of Crookston. His wife and one child preceded him in death.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete but have been tentatively set for Wednesday afternoon. The casket will be open Tuesday afternoon and night at the Norman Funeral home.

SIX NEPHEWS ARE PALL BEARERS FOR AUGUST MICHAELS FUNERAL
Six nephews will act as pallbearers tomorrow at the funeral services for August J. Michaels, 79-year-old Crookston resident who died Sunday.
They are Lawrence, Herbert and Harvey Wagner, William and Robert McWaters and Edwin Michael.
The funeral will be held at 3:30 at the Norman funeral home with the Rev. Stewart T. Robertson officiating. The body will lie in state tonight from five to nine at the funeral home.

MAN FALLS TO DEATH FROM BUILDING HERE
Emil Johnson, Crookston, laborer and steeplejack, fell from the top of the American Legion hall at 2:30 this afternoon and was seriously injured.
At the time the paper went to press he was unofficially reported killed by the fall.
Before landing on the sidewalk from the two-story fall he hit the A and E Bootery sign, witnesses said.
At the time of the accident he was working on the Legion building, replacing storm windows with screens.

ACCIDENT VICTIM RITES THURSDAY AT CHAPEL HERE
Funeral services for James Emil Johnson will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Houske funeral chapel with the Rev. Randall Barnes officiating.
Johnson was killed in a fall from two stories up while working on a building on Second street. The cause of death was given as skull fracture.
He was working with screens at the time of the fall.
He was born in Gary, Minn., Sept. 21, 1899, later coming to Crookston where he lived most of his life. He married Miss Rose McWaters here in 1919. His wife preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Robert, of Crookston, who happened to be looking on at the time his father fell, and a daughter, Donna Mae, a high school student at Cass Lake high school.
Other survivors include two brothers, Abner of Hastings and H. C. Johnson of Minneapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Julius Wentzel of Fisher and Mrs. William Hanson of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Houske parlors tomorrow afternoon and night.

Mrs. Emma McWaters and Mrs. Bertha Wagner will leave for Alma, Wis., tonight where they will attend funeral services on Friday for their aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Ristau, 92.
Mrs. Ristau, a former resident of Crookston, died at Long Beach, Calif., where she had been living last Friday.
Mrs. Ristau's husband, John Ristau, who died 35 years ago, was the first jailor in Crookston.

Robert Michael, 78, of near Fertile, died early today at a Crookston hospital after a long illness. He had been a resident of the Fertile area for 11 years.
Michael was born Oct. 1, 1872, at Alma, Wis.
Survivors include a brother Rudolph of Fertile, three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Wagner and Mrs. Frieda Wagner, both of Fisher, and Mrs. Emma McWaters of Crookston. He was unmarried.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m., at the Houske Funeral home chapel with the Rev. C. J. Fellger officiating. Interment will be at Our Savior's Lutheran cemetery near Maple Bay.
The body will lie in state Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Houske Funeral home in Crookston.

PIONEER FISHER RESIDENT DIES
Mrs. Freda Wagner, 74, resident of Fisher since a child of three, died early today at a local hospital.
Born July 14, 1877, in Alma, Wis., Mrs. Wagner came to Fisher with her parents as a small child, where she has continued to make her home.
She was married to Charles Wagner Dec. 1, 1897, who preceded her in death April 6, 1937. Mrs. Wagner was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church of Fisher.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Walter Weiland of Red Lake Falls and Mrs. Ernest Radi of Fisher; three sons Harvey, Harry and Howard, all of Fisher; also 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death.
Other survivors are two sisters Mrs. Bertha Wagner of Fisher and Mrs. Emma McWaters of Crookston and one brother Rudolph Micheals of Fertile.
The body of Mrs. Wagner is at the Stenshoel Funeral home awaiting funeral arrangements, pending word from relatives.

Mrs. A. J. Olson died Friday afternoon at Rochester, Minn., after a long illness.
She was the former Ruby McWaters and was born Feb. 10, 1905 at Fisher, Minn. She was a past president of the Crookston VFW Auxillary.
Funeral services were held today at the Macken Funeral Home in Rochester with the Rev. Carroll Lemmon officiating.
Mrs. Olson is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Betty) Skelly, Fort Bliss, Texas; Mrs. Warren (Mildred) Carlson, Minneapolis; Donna Fischer, Grand Forks, N. RUDOLPH MICHAELS RITES WEDNESDAY
Rudolph Michaels, 82, longtime resident of Polk County, died Friday in a Crookston hospital after a long illness.
Born in Alma, Wis., in 1874, Mr. Michaels came to Polk County with his parents in 1882. During the early part of his life he was associated with the Great Northern Railway at Crookston.
He was married to Esther Ingebrigston at Crookston in 1924. He farmed in Nesbit Township from that time until 1941when he moved to Fertile. He resided there until his death. Mr. Michaels was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Fertile.
He is survived by his wife, nine children, Walter of Elsinore, Calif., Mrs. LeRoy (Adeline) Gudvangen and Muriel of Crookston; Edmund, Arthur, Mrs. Archie (Caroline) Christianson, Mrs. Willie (Augusta) Gudvangen Jr., Roger and August, all of Fertile.
Two sisters, Mrs. Emma McWaters and Mrs. Bertha Wagner of Crookston, eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six sisters and eight brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Maple Lake Lutheran Church near Fertile. The Rev. H. A. Halmrast will officiate. Erickson Funeral hamoe is in charge of arrangements. The body will lie in state Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Gilbert dale, Edward Bertils, Ashton Russell, Ole Pederson, Ellsworth Pederson and Leonard Sollie.

MRS. E. MICHAELS OF FERTILE DIES
Mrs. Esther V. Michaels, 60, of Fertile, died Monday at a Crookston hospital following a long illness.
She was born Aug. 31, 1901 in Freeborn County, Minnesota to Anton and Bertha Ingebrigston. She was married July 9, 1924 to Rudolph Michaels who preceded her death in 1957.
They lived on a farm near Fisher until 1941 when they moved to Fertile. She resided there until her death. She was a member of the Hitterdal Lutheran Church.
Survivors include nine children, Edmund, Arthur, Walter, Roger, August and Mrs. Willie (Augusta) Gudvanger Jr., all of Fertile; Mrs. Kenneth (Muriel) Briggs of Crookston, Mrs. LeRoy (Adeline) Gudvangen of Grand Forks and Mrs. Archie (Caroline) Christianson of Gary; a sister, Mrs. E. J. Ditlovson of Fisher; a brother, Ernest Ingebrigston of Wannaska and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Maple Lake Lutheran Church near Fertile with the Rev. B. L. Duckstad officiating. Burial will be in Our Savior's Cemetery near Fertile.

MRS. BERTHA WAGNER, 83, LONGTIME AREA RESIDENT, DIES
Mrs. Bertha Wagner, 83, a longtime resident of the Fisher area, was found dead Tuesday in her apartment in Crookston.
The former Bertha Michaels was born April 6, 1880 at Alma, Wis., and came to the Fisher area with her parents, the late Mr. And Mrs. Fredrick Michaels, as an infant. She had lived in the Fisher area most of her lifeand had been in Crookston the past eight months.
She was married to William Wagner on March 22, 1898 at Fisher. He died in 1930.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Herman (Virginia) Radi of Fisher; two sons, Lawrence D. of Fisher and Herbert of Mentor; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Emma McWaters of Crookston, who is presently visiting her daughter in Lincoln, Neb.
Mrs. Wagner was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Eyrich E. Hansen officiating. Buriel will be in Oakdale Cemterey in the spring.
Friends and relatives may register at the Stenshoel Funeral Home Thursday afternoon and evening and at the church Friday before services.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Dale and William Wagner, Ivan and Victor Radi and Norman and Mervin Wagner.

MRS. MCWATERS LONGTIME CITY RESIDENT, DIES
Mrs. Emma McWaters, 98, longtime Crookston resident, died Wednesday at a local nursing home.
She was born Dec. 2, 1875 in Alma, Wis. to the late Fredrick and Caroline Michaels. She came to the Fisher area with her parents in 1881. On Nov. 10, 1897 she was married to William McWaters near Fisher. They lived in Fisher after their marriage. They then moved to Auburn, N.D. and then to Waldron, Sask., where Mr. McWaters died in 1913.
Mrs. McWaters then moved her family to Crookston. She was a charter member of the Church of Christ which was founded in 1915.
Survivors include four sons, William, Robert, Edmond and Vernon, all of Crookston; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Lemon of Lincoln, Neb.; 23 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three daughters, three brothers and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be from the Church of Christ, 217 S. Main, on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Ray Dietz as pastor.
Friends and ralatives may call after 5 p.m. at Stenshoel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and include Charles, Richard, James, William Jr., Paul and Roger McWaters, Dale Lemon, Richard Fischer and Robert Johnson.

William McWaters, 77, of Crookston died Sunday at St. Lukes Hospital in Fargo.
He was born in Fisher on June 5, 1906 to the late William and Emma McWaters. He moved with his family to Crookston as a child and attended Crookston schools. He worked as a printer for the Crookston Times and Shopper. He was also a sportswriter for a number of years.
He served with the National Guard for 18 years.
He married Nelda Louise Hanson on September 1, 1934, in the Presbyterian parsonage in Crookston. The couple made their home in Crookston, where he began working for the U.S. Postal Service in 1942. He retired in 1973, after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ, where he taught Sunday School for several years and was also a former church clerk. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge, serving as president in 1944. He was an avid sports fan, and former baseball and softball player. He was the manager of the old Crookston Gunners basketball team and had also umpired for many years in the northern baseball league and for the Crookston Park Department.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, James R. of Lubbock, Texas, William F. Jr., and Paul E., both of Crookston; six daughters, Mrs. Paddy Jean (Jim) Osness of New York, N.Y., Mrs. Virginia L. (Ron) Cook of Grand Forks, Mrs. Margaret R. (Mike) Greene of Bayard, Neb., Mrs. Mary E. (Robert) Olson of Red Lake Falls, and Mrs. Donna M. LeFleur and Mrs. Colleen (Henry) Elbinger, both of Crookston; 21 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Lemon of Lincoln, Neb.; three brothers, Robert, Edmond, and Vernon, all of Crookston; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Stenshoel Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church Wednesday. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

Vernon C. McWaters, 72, a lifelong Crookston resident died early Saturday morning at United Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Crookston.
Visitation will be held today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Stenshoel Funeral Home and at the church for an hour before services Tuesday.
Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery with the Crookston Veterans' Council providing graveside ceremonies.
He was born October 1, 1913, in Crookston to William and Emma Michael McWaters. He grew up in Crookston and attended Crookston schools.
He married Lorraine Mercil Nov. 12, 1938, at Crookston.
He worked at various jobs in Crookston for several years and served in the U.S. Army from February of 1941 until his discharge as a ataff sargeant in September of 1945.
After his discharge, he worked for the Crookston Mill until 1948, when he began working for the U.S. Post Office. He retired from that job on June 30, 1972.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and a former member of Nels T. Wold American Legion Post No. 20.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles F. of Crookston and Richard A. of Grand Forks, N.D.; a daughter, Kim Backs, of Cincinatti, Ohio; two grandchildren, Matthew and Annie; two step-grandchildren, Brian and Tom; two brothers, Robert and Edmond, both of Crookston: a sister, Myrtle Lemon of Lincoln, Neb.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

William "Bill" McWaters, Jr., 50, of Crookston, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1992, of carbon monoxide poisoning while fishing on Lake of the Woods.
The funeral service will be Friday, Jan. 24, at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Christ in Crookston. Interment will be in the Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Stenshoel Funeral Home, and at the Church for an hour before the service.
He was born in Crookston March 19, 1941, the son of William and Nelda (Hanson) McWaters. He grew up in Crookston and was a graduate of Central High School. He moved to Scots Bluff, Neb. Where he worked in a meat market. A few years later he returned to Crookston and was employed by Dahlgren and Company. In 1973, he began employment in the plant service department at the Univerity of Minnesota, Crookston and had been there to the present time.
He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer McWaters of St. Croix, Wis. and Paula McWaters of Bethel Park, Pa.; two sons, Brian and Tom McWaters, both of Crookston; six sisters, Pat (Mrs. James) Osness of Port Jefferson, N.Y., Virginia (Mrs. Ron) Cook of Valley Center, Kansas, Margaret Greene of Marion, Kansas, Mary (Mrs. Robert) Olson of Thief River Falls, and Donna LaFleur and Colleen "Cookie" (Mrs. Henry) Elbinger, all of Crookston.
He was preceded in death by his father, William who died Nov. 20, 1983; his mother, Nelda who died on March 24, 1988.
Myrtle E. [McWaters] Lemon - April 30, 1999 Page 2
Myrtle E. Lemon, 95, of Hayward, CA, and formerly of Crookston, died on Tuesday, April 27, 1999.
A graveside service is tentatively scheduled for the third week of May at Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston.
Myrtle McWaters was born on May 5, 1903 in Fisher, the daughter of William and Emma McWaters. She grew up in Crookston and attended public school here before attending the Minnesota Bible College, where she finished her high school and recieved a bachelors degree.
After graduation, Myrtle married Carroll Lemon, a graduate student in ministerial studies. Myrtle and Carroll ministered to churches in Arkansas and Nebraska. They then moved to Lincoln, NE, where Carroll became executive secretary for the Council of Churches for the State of Nebraska. Myrtle spent the last few years with her daughter in Hayward.
She was a longtime member of Bethany Christian Church in Lincoln.
Myrtle was especially known for the frequent letters she wrote to a host of relatives and friends, including many in Crookston.
Survivors include her daughter, Michal Alexander, Hayward; a son, Dale, Blair, NE; a brother, Robert "Bob", Crookston; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
